If you are looking for a genuine off-road journey, go to Salmah Plateau. Situated in the Eastern Hajar Mountains it is home to typical towns, Beehive Tombs of Al Jaylah as well as Majlis Al Jinz, Oman’s famous cavern chamber. It is semi-arid as well as has an undulating hill top. There are various outdoor camping spots here.
Located at the foothills of the eastern Al Hajar Mountains exists Majlis Al Jinn Cave. It is situated along the road linking Fins with Tiwi Village of Wilayat Sur in the A’Sharqiyah South Governorate.
According to Oman’s Ministry of Tourist, “The location of this huge cavern is 58 thousand square metres and its capability is 4 million cubic metres. The length of Majlis Al Jinn Cave is 310 metres and also its width is 225 metres. A dome-shaped ceiling tops the cave at a height of 120 metres. Despite the nefariousness of this cave, it is hard to discover it from the outside in this huge area, as the only evidence of its existence is a little 3 openings that seem of no value to the audience.” This cave was inadvertently discovered while searching for carbonate rocks in a pursuit to discover deep below ground water reserves.
Bat settlement is among one of the most remarkable historical sites in Oman, well-known for its ancient beehive tombs and cemeteries made of stones. The website is thought to go back to the third millennium BC.
